A Dane's sword falls Alone again Every corner of his house every hall A rip in his tapestry of his own design. Loveless and cold he now stood Blood ran down his cheek Charcoal, not wood His choking cry, feeble... and weak And then a shield From the light that scorched his skin A gruff voice telling him too run, that familiar voice was a weapon that he could never yield That, who spat blood and was off his own kin. Though between them only sat darkness and spite Now as the dane took to his feet and turned There was only light White light that burned As he became ash.

The water was murky, a black almost. He pulled himself from the waters, the surrounding was all grey, and everything was in monochrome but one. Blood was the only colour. It was dripping from his mouth, as he spat into the grey washing sand. He pulled himself up. He started to choke. He knew it was after him, noises of silence pressing to his ears. He staggered to his feet. They were not moving as fast as he wanted them to, the only sound now was of far off footfalls as he ran, staggered or willed himself further into the monochrome background of this place.
